Vice Chancellor Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman, visited faculties and institutes across the campus to review academic, administrative and research progress in detail. He held meetings with deans, directors, chairpersons, faculty members and administrative staff, and was accompanied by members of the facilitation committees working to support technical, academic and administrative needs.
During the visit, the Vice Chancellor said the University Institute of Information Technology would lead AI training for faculty members from all departments so that teachers can build stronger digital skills and use modern tools in their teaching practice. He stressed that timely exposure to artificial intelligence and emerging technologies would help instructors deliver more relevant and practical learning experiences to students.
He also underlined the importance of entrepreneurship education in shaping a more innovative academic culture. According to him, universities must encourage creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial thinking so students can develop the confidence to become job creators and contribute to sustainable economic growth. He said this approach is vital for Pakistan’s long-term prosperity and for preparing graduates to meet changing market needs.
Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman further reviewed the implementation of Outcome-Based Education across academic units and directed departments to continue improving curriculum design, teaching methods and student learning outcomes in line with national and international quality standards. He emphasized that quality assurance must remain central to academic planning and classroom practice.
He also instructed the concerned authorities to speed up the upgradation of laboratories, modernize teaching facilities and improve overall academic infrastructure at the university. He said better laboratories, updated classrooms and improved learning resources would create a more supportive environment for students and strengthen the university’s educational standards.
