AI Training at IIUI equips faculty and postgraduates with practical AI and prompting skills to modernize teaching, assessment and research.

The Faculty of Education at the International Islamic University Islamabad has launched a three-day AI Training workshop in partnership with the Pakistan U.S. Alumni Network and with support from the U.S. Mission to Pakistan, designed to give faculty members and postgraduate students hands-on skills to integrate artificial intelligence and prompting techniques into teaching, learning and research. The programme opened at the Seminar Room on the Faisal Mosque Campus and runs through October 17, 2025.

Dr. Fouzia Ajmal, the workshop focal person, outlined the objectives, schedule and the workshop’s practical approach, stressing that sessions move beyond theory to direct practice with AI tools to strengthen classroom design, student engagement and assessment practices. The structure emphasises small-group work and applied exercises so participants can immediately test new methods in academic settings.

Dr. Muhammad Riaz, Project Lead Pakistan–U.S. Alumni / USAID Program, presented an overview of the workshop design and expected learning outcomes, highlighting the dual focus on technical competency and the responsible, ethical use of AI. “Our goal is to make educators confident users of AI tools so they can create richer, more inclusive learning experiences,” he said, noting the importance of maintaining academic integrity while adopting new technologies.

Dr. Azhar Mahmood, Incharge Programs at the Faculty of Education, underscored the strategic role of digital competencies in modern higher education and reaffirmed the Faculty’s commitment to integrating AI and innovative pedagogies into curricula and research activities. Demonstrations, collaborative problem solving and reflective discussions are built into the agenda to help translate workshop learning into classroom practice.

Participants will work through practical modules on prompt engineering, AI-enabled content creation, assessment design and tools for personalised learning. The hands-on format encourages experimentation and peer feedback, with facilitators guiding participants to apply AI tools responsibly and effectively within academic settings. By the end of the three days attendees are expected to produce actionable plans to pilot AI-informed teaching strategies in their courses.

The initiative highlights IIUI’s efforts to prepare educators for a rapidly evolving digital landscape and reflects growing collaboration between Pakistani higher education institutions and international partners to advance capacity building in education technology. Local faculty and students at the Islamabad campus will be able to apply these AI Training skills to modernise instruction and support more inclusive learning across the university and beyond.
