Al-Khidmat Foundation Gujrat distributed Qarz-e-Hasna cheques to small entrepreneurs to foster self-employment and empower women through Islamic microfinance.

Al-Khidmat Foundation’s Gujrat office recently handed out Qarz-e-Hasna cheques to deserving individuals as part of its ongoing efforts to support small businesses and promote self-employment in the local community.

Dr. Tariq Saleem, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. Also present were Chaudhry Ansar Mahmood, Khalid Mahmood Saqib and Chaudhry Naeem Shahbaz, who joined foundation staff in congratulating the beneficiaries and underscoring the programme’s aims.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Tariq Saleem highlighted that Al-Khidmat Foundation is taking practical steps beyond relief work to create employment opportunities. He explained that the Qarz-e-Hasna scheme provides interest-free financial assistance to small entrepreneurs, enabling them to start or expand businesses and move toward financial independence.

Speakers at the event noted that Al-Khidmat’s Islamic microfinance initiatives have helped thousands of families become self-reliant by launching their own enterprises. A significant portion of those helped are women, whose increased economic participation has strengthened household incomes and improved livelihoods across communities in Punjab.

Officials emphasized that the Qarz-e-Hasna model is grounded in the principles of Islamic finance, ensuring support is delivered without interest and with social responsibility. Such programmes, they said, are vital to uplift economically weaker segments of society by promoting dignity, self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
