Ambassador Jemal honored in Islamabad for strengthening Ethiopia Pakistan ties at Business Africa Trade Forum 2025, highlighted by embassy opening and airline launch.

A special ceremony in Islamabad honored H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, in recognition of his contributions to deepening Ethiopia Pakistan relations during his tenure.

The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce & Industry hosted the event on the sidelines of the Business Africa Trade Forum 2025. The gathering brought together government officials, parliamentarians, ambassadors and high commissioners, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, media and civil society representatives to acknowledge milestones achieved under the ambassador’s stewardship.

Ambassador Jemal expressed his gratitude to the Government and people of Pakistan for their support and hospitality, noting key achievements that included the opening of the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, the launch of Ethiopian Airlines services to Pakistan and expanded exchanges of high level delegations that have strengthened political and economic links.

H.E. Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, the Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Tourism, praised the envoy for representing Ethiopia and Africa with distinction and said the Government of Pakistan appreciates his efforts in advancing bilateral cooperation.

H.E. Hamid Asghar Khan, Additional Secretary (Africa) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the ambassador’s role in creating connectivity between Pakistan, Ethiopia and the wider African region, underscoring his contribution to the successful launch of Ethiopian Airlines flights to Pakistan.

RCCI President H.E. Usman Shaukat lauded the ambassador’s work in promoting political, economic and people to people linkages between the two brotherly nations. He also noted Dr. Jemal’s active support for the Green Pakistan Initiative and his efforts to raise awareness on climate change.
