NDMA visit sees ASEAN Committee briefed on 2026 weather trends and invited to Pakistan's March 2026 disaster management technology expo.

Officials from the ASEAN Committee in Islamabad met with the National Disaster Management Authority in Islamabad on 19 December 2025 for a detailed briefing on national and global weather trends for 2026 and NDMA’s role in disaster preparedness. The NDMA outlined its mandate, emergency coordination mechanisms and ongoing international collaborations with institutions across related fields worldwide.

During the visit the NDMA extended an invitation to ASEAN countries to participate in an international expo on disaster management technology to be held in Pakistan in March 2026. Authorities highlighted the expo as an opportunity for regional partners to review emerging tools, exchange best practices and explore technical cooperation.

The conversation around the NDMA visit emphasized practical steps for deeper collaboration, including the sharing of information and the development of joint action plans to enhance readiness. Representatives of the ASEAN Committee suggested forming a strategic partnership with the ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance Centre AHA Centre and other relevant ASEAN agencies to streamline regional responses.

The NDMA underlined its position as a leading policymaking body for disaster management in Pakistan, coordinating a unified response across government and working with international organisations to reduce disaster risk. The outcomes of the NDMA visit aim to strengthen bilateral ties and prepare a coordinated regional approach to challenges expected in 2026.
