Karachi : The administration of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been accused of negligence in connection with two separate accidents that involved ATR aircraft.
According to the report, the administration of PIA was negligent, which led to the accidents and inflicted a financial loss of more than 2,000,000,000 Pakistani Rupees (PKR).

Because of the ATR accidents that took place at Gilgit airport, the airline had a potential loss in revenue of up to Rs2,796 million as a direct consequence of the unfortunate events. Karachi International Airport was the site of one of the incidents in November 2018, while Gilgit International Airport was the location of the second disaster in July 2021.

The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) conducted an investigation, and their findings detailed what they determined to be the causes of the two separate incidents.

The aviation authority pointed the finger at a malfunction in the necessary technical equipment for maintenance, a lack of professionalism on the part of the airline’s maintenance crew, a failure in the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), flawed decisions, and the role of the first officer as the causes of the accidents.
In addition, the error of the pilot was cited in the investigation into the accidents that was conducted by the management of PIA. Following the recommendations made in the audit report, competent officials have been tasked with disseminating the investigation findings and taking disciplinary action against individuals who were determined to be responsible for the accidents.
