Awami Express Derailment Near Lodhran Leaves 1 Dead, 32 Injured

A passenger train traveling from Lahore to Karachi derailed near Lodhran, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to 32 others. The accident, caused by a brake failure, occurred close to Lodhran Railway Station and led to significant disruptions in rail services as several coaches came off the tracks.

Rescue operations were quickly launched under the supervision of local authorities, including District Emergency Officer Shakeel Ahmad and Acting District Police Officer Akram Niazi. Emergency responders provided on-site first aid to 11 passengers and transported 22 others to District Hospital Lodhran. Despite their efforts, one passenger died at the hospital due to the severity of their injuries.

The victims of the derailment included men, women, and children from various cities, including Lahore, Karachi, Khairpur, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, and Sindh, highlighting the widespread impact of the incident. Medical teams at the hospital are continuing to care for the injured, with a focus on their full recovery.

Railway authorities have begun investigating the cause of the brake failure that led to the derailment. Additional emergency vehicles and police teams from nearby areas were also mobilized to assist in the rescue and restoration efforts. Rail traffic in the region remains disrupted as authorities work to clear the tracks and ensure safety for future operations.
