ISLAMABAD: Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Mr Irfan Davudov, held a meeting with Mr Mazhar Hussain Thathal, Chairman and CEO of Global Trade Expo Centre Pakistan, at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Islamabad to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
The meeting was attended by Mr Samir Ahmadi, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Azerbaijan; Mr Liaqat Ali Thathal, Director International Trade and Relationships, Global Trade Expo Centre Pakistan; and representatives of the business community from Sialkot, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Lahore.
The discussions focused on exploring new avenues for bilateral trade, investment opportunities, business-to-business cooperation and strengthening commercial linkages between the business communities of the two countries.
Ambassador Davudov appreciated the interest and efforts of the Pakistani business community in promoting economic relations with Azerbaijan. He welcomed initiatives aimed at enhancing bilateral commercial engagement and developing stronger connections between businesses in both countries.
Mr Mazhar Hussain Thathal briefed the Ambassador on Pakistan’s industrial, commercial and export potential, highlighting key sectors where Pakistan and Azerbaijan could expand cooperation. He also discussed the role of Global Trade Expo Centre Pakistan in facilitating international trade, connecting businesses, and promoting business delegations and commercial partnerships.
Mr Liaqat Ali Thathal highlighted potential trade sectors and emphasised the importance of regular business exchanges, direct engagement between companies and stronger institutional cooperation to increase bilateral trade volumes and establish sustainable business partnerships.
The meeting concluded with a shared emphasis on strengthening Pakistan-Azerbaijan economic relations, encouraging private-sector collaboration and exploring practical opportunities for trade and investment between the two brotherly countries.
Global Trade Expo Centre Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating business-to-business engagement and promoting stronger trade and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
