High Commissioner Fatou Harerimana visited the Rehman Foundation Free Dialysis Center in Islamabad and was received by Dr. Wagar Ahmed Niaz, Founder and Chairman of the Rehman Foundation. The visit provided a chance to see the centre’s operations and patient support services firsthand.
The discussions centered on strengthening free healthcare services across Pakistan, with particular emphasis on Free Dialysis and comprehensive treatment for patients living with chronic kidney disease. Both sides examined how the foundation’s approach to free dialysis could inform broader strategies to reduce barriers to care for vulnerable patients.
Officials explored avenues to adapt and extend life-saving initiatives to Rwanda, considering possibilities such as knowledge sharing, clinical exchanges and model replication to support chronic kidney disease treatment in different health system contexts. The focus remained on practical, scalable measures that preserve quality and accessibility.
The visit represents another meaningful step in deepening Rwanda–Pakistan collaboration in healthcare and advancing a shared vision of accessible and compassionate medical care for all. Talks will continue as stakeholders assess how Free Dialysis services and related support can be sustained and expanded to benefit patients in both countries.
