A recent Training of Trainers workshop in Islamabad marked a significant step towards modernizing the prosecution system in Punjab. Organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in partnership with the Punjab Prosecution Department and the Punjab Information Technology Board, the event focused on building capacity to utilize the upgraded and integrated Case Flow Management System (CFMS).

The training introduced participants from across Punjab to key features of the upgraded CFMS, such as the Line of Inquiry Module, real-time notifications, analytical dashboards, a public access portal, and an enhanced mobile application. These tools are designed to streamline prosecution processes, facilitate better coordination, and improve transparency. Special emphasis was placed on data-driven decision-making, which is expected to lead to greater efficiency and improved justice outcomes.

Selected attendees from the workshops will now serve as co-trainers, ensuring knowledge is transferred throughout the prosecution department and embedding expertise within the institution. This approach promotes sustainability and institutional ownership of the new system.

The upgraded CFMS is part of Punjab’s broader justice reform agenda, aiming to expedite case processing, reduce delays in undertrial cases, and alleviate prison overcrowding. The initiative, supported by the U.S. Embassy’s Office of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement, highlights ongoing international cooperation to strengthen judicial systems and promote effective governance in the region.
