EU-funded Child Rights Hub launched in Multan to strengthen due diligence, responsible business and child protection in Pakistan's textile and leather sectors.

On 30 October 2025, SPARC in partnership with The Centre for Child Rights and Business and with funding from the European Union inaugurated a Child Rights Hub in Multan to advance human rights due diligence and child protection in Pakistan’s textile and leather sectors. The new Child Rights Hub is designed to support local industry efforts to adopt responsible business practices and improve supply chain transparency.

This is the second Action Hub established in Pakistan, following the Karachi launch on 25 September 2025. The Multan event featured a video message from Mr. Jeroen Willems, Head of Cooperation, European Union in Pakistan, and included remarks and participation from Mr. Qazi Asad, Regional Director, TEVTA Punjab, Mrs. Sidra Bakhtawar Sheikh, Representative of Multan Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Ali Umer Tipu, Deputy Director, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, and Mr. Sohail Mehmood, former President of the Pakistan Ginners Association, alongside representatives from government, civil society and the private sector.

The initiative seeks to strengthen compliance in the textile and leather value chains by promoting human rights due diligence and responsible business conduct. The Child Rights Hub will work with stakeholders to enhance supply chain accountability and to create safer, decent work opportunities for young people, aligning industry practices with international standards while responding to Pakistan’s local needs.

By providing a collaborative platform for training, dialogue and technical support, the Child Rights Hub aims to help manufacturers, suppliers and local institutions implement measures that prevent child exploitation and improve working conditions across affected sectors in Punjab and beyond.
