In Quetta, UNDP has completed 40 climate resilient houses to support families affected by recent floods. These finished units form the initial phase of a broader reconstruction effort that is moving toward delivering more than 500+ homes for flood-affected households.
UNDP engineers and field teams recently visited the construction sites, engaging with local communities and closely monitoring works to ensure quality and resilience. Each dwelling is being built on elevated plinths with reinforced foundations, design features intended to reduce vulnerability to future climate shocks and to meet standards for climate resilient houses.
The project is supported by the German Government through KfW Bankengruppe, combining international financing with local labour and community participation. Project staff emphasised that restoring safe shelter is central to rebuilding lives and restoring dignity for affected families.
As construction progresses toward the 500-plus target, UNDP continues to prioritise climate resilient houses that respond to local needs and strengthen long-term recovery for flood-affected communities in Quetta.
