The Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad organised a focused training programme to boost the capacity and effectiveness of consular volunteers supporting Thai nationals in Pakistan. The initiative concentrated on practical legal knowledge and hands-on guidance to ensure Thai citizens living and working in Pakistan receive timely and accurate assistance.
The project titled Basic Legal Knowledge and Training for Consular Volunteers aimed to equip volunteers with a clear understanding of basic Pakistani laws relevant to everyday life abroad, alongside the skills needed to respond to common consular issues. The embassy invited a Pakistani legal expert, an officer from the Division of the Protection of Thai Nationals Abroad at Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and a Consul from the Royal Thai Embassy and the Consulate-General in Karachi to share expertise and real-world experience.
Participants left the sessions with enhanced legal awareness, practical advice for dealing with routine and complex cases, and greater confidence in representing and assisting fellow nationals. The interactive format encouraged volunteers to present concerns, test response approaches, and obtain direct feedback from officials and legal specialists, strengthening their ability to manage real-life challenges professionally.
The training also served as a platform to reinforce bonds within the Thai community across Pakistan and to deepen collaboration with diplomatic missions. By promoting dialogue and mutual support, the embassy and consular volunteers aim to build a more accessible, efficient and reliable assistance network for Thai nationals, reflecting the community ethos of unity and shared responsibility.
The upgraded consular volunteer programme represents a practical step toward resilient community care, ensuring that Thai residents in Islamabad, Karachi and other parts of Pakistan can rely on informed local support provided by well-prepared consular volunteers.
