Dialogue of Religions Congress Prepares Astana 2025

The Congress Secretariat held its 23rd session at the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation to finalize preparations for the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, including review of the event agenda, election of Goodwill Ambassadors, and discussion of the Congress’s final document, the “Astana Peace Declaration – 2025.”

Chairman of the Senate and Head of the Congress Secretariat Maulen Ashimbayev opened the session by highlighting the Congress’s two-decade role in strengthening global interfaith dialogue and promoting peace and mutual respect. He said the upcoming VIII Congress will be held under the theme “Dialogue of Religions: Synergy for the Future,” underscoring the need not only for cooperation but for intensified joint efforts among religious leaders and communities.

During the meeting, delegates reviewed and refined the agenda for the Congress, ensuring discussion topics and formats align with the theme. Goodwill Ambassadors were elected to support the Congress’s outreach and public engagement objectives.

Participants also examined the draft of the Congress’s concluding text, the “Astana Peace Declaration – 2025,” working through its key provisions ahead of final adoption. The Secretariat will continue preparations to ensure the Congress advances concrete measures for interreligious cooperation and lasting peace.
