The Technology for People Initiative at LUMS has partnered with the Ministry of IT & Telecom to enhance digital governance and advance a secure, citizen-focused digital Pakistan. This collaboration aims to build a more inclusive and robust digital infrastructure for the country.
The partnership will address several key areas, including improving the cybersecurity of public digital assets, encouraging policy innovation, and developing efficient digital service delivery systems. Both parties will also focus on strengthening public sector digital infrastructure, conducting research and advisory projects, developing new technology products, and offering capacity-building programs. An important element of the initiative is the promotion of gender inclusion and the development of digital skills across the population.
Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, emphasized the importance of government-academia collaboration in creating an inclusive and future-ready digital Pakistan during the signing ceremony. Vice Chancellor Dr. Ali Cheema reiterated LUMS’ commitment to supporting better governance and development, while Usman Khan, Director of TPI, highlighted how the university’s multidisciplinary expertise will be used to support the government’s goals of inclusive growth and prosperity.
Through this partnership, both LUMS and the Ministry aim to launch joint initiatives that will improve transparency, efficiency, and accessibility in public service delivery across Pakistan.
