Diplomats from France, Germany and the Netherlands met in Islamabad to advance journalist safety at a Freedom Network roundtable.

Senior diplomats from the German Embassy Islamabad and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Pakistan joined Mr. Allard, deputy head of mission of Ambassade de France au Pakistan, at a roundtable organised by Freedom Network on journalist safety mechanisms in Islamabad.

Attendees discussed practical steps to strengthen protections for reporters, and explored how diplomatic engagement, information sharing and local support networks can improve safety for media professionals operating across Pakistan. The roundtable provided a forum for exchanging experiences and identifying measures that can be taken collaboratively by missions and civil society.

Mr. Allard’s participation highlighted France’s engagement on press protections and, together with representatives from Germany and the Netherlands, signalled continued international concern for journalist safety in the country. Organisers and diplomats agreed to pursue follow-up coordination to translate discussion points into concrete support for journalists on the ground.
