The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) outlined its digitalization efforts and strategic plans for evidence-informed policymaking at a regional technical consultation in Cairo, underscoring Pakistan’s potential as a growing hub for large-scale clinical trials.

DRAP Chief Executive Officer Dr. Obaidullah represented Pakistan at the EMRO technical consultation on strengthening research and data systems for evidence-informed policymaking. He briefed participating countries on DRAP’s recent initiatives and engaged with regional counterparts on improving regulatory and data frameworks.

A central focus of Dr. Obaidullah’s presentation was the digitalization of regulatory processes. He described how automation and improved data systems are being used to streamline approvals, increase transparency, and support more timely, evidence-based decisions within the regulatory framework.

Dr. Obaidullah also outlined DRAP’s strategic planning for future efforts in evidence-based policymaking, emphasizing the importance of robust research and data systems to inform regulatory actions and public health policy.

Highlighting Pakistan’s evolving role in the region, Dr. Obaidullah noted that a conducive regulatory ecosystem is positioning the country as an attractive site for large-scale clinical trials. He argued that continued reforms and streamlined processes will support greater international collaboration in research.
