ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami Islamabad Ameer Engineer Nasrullah Randhawa has said that the imposition of emergency is contrary to democratic values and respect for the public mandate.

In a statement issued by the party’s Islamabad information department on October 11, 2026, Randhawa said those who raised the slogan of “respect the vote” had undermined the dignity of the elected public mandate by imposing emergency.

He said governor’s rule or emergency was not a solution to problems, adding that such steps raised serious questions about the democratic process, public representation and provincial autonomy.

Randhawa said the political crisis in Pakistan was intensifying with each passing day. He urged all political forces to sit together to steer the country out of political instability and confrontation, and to find a solution to differences through dialogue in the national interest.

He maintained that the answer to political crises did not lie in extraordinary measures or restricting public representation, but in supremacy of the Constitution, the democratic process and political dialogue.

The JI Islamabad chief stressed that the ideology of Pakistan, supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law should form the basis of national politics.

He said all institutions and political forces would have to remain within their constitutional limits and play their role in promoting democratic stability, political harmony and rule of law in the country.

Randhawa added that Pakistan’s future was linked to strong democratic institutions, adherence to the Constitution and respect for the opinion of the people.
