A vibrant sports gala in Multan brought together children from brick kiln communities, their families and neighbourhood residents in a lively finale to the Brick Kiln Sports Festival. The gathering gave children a chance to play freely, laugh and simply be children in a safe, welcoming environment.
Children expressed themselves through games and performances while cultural acts by both young participants and brick kiln workers added warmth and local colour to the day. The presence of bonded workers and their families underscored the festival’s role in affirming dignity and belonging for communities often overlooked.
The event was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Kalsoom Paracha, Vice Chancellor of Women University Multan, and saw participation from representatives of government departments including social welfare, education, labour and sports, alongside civil society. Their attendance highlighted a shared commitment to child rights, community empowerment and practical steps to support bonded workers and their children.
As the final stop of the festival series, the Multan gala reinforced the importance of creating inclusive, child-friendly spaces that nurture confidence, dignity and happiness. The organisers said the event aimed to leave a lasting impression on local communities by promoting play, cultural pride and opportunities for children from brick kiln areas.
