FG Polo secured a convincing 9–5½ victory over BN Polo to advance to the main final of the Allied Bank 97th Punjab Polo Cup at Lahore Polo Club.
The 97th edition of the Punjab Polo Cup, sponsored by Allied Bank Limited, attracted strong participation from leading teams and a large turnout of members and families. Among those present were Lahore Polo Club President Malik Azam Hayat Noon, executive committee members, senior members and Secretary Maj (R) Amjad Ghafoor, underlining the event’s importance on the domestic polo calendar.
FG Polo produced a commanding all-round performance, combining tight defence with disciplined attack to control the pace across the chukkas. Raul Laplacette led the scoring with three goals, while Marcos Rivarola, Raja Temur Nadeem and Ameen Rehman chipped in with two goals each to keep their side firmly in front.
For BN Polo, Titu Ruiz Guinazu fought hard and scored three goals, with Adnan Jalil Azam and Saqib Khan Khakwani adding one goal apiece. The 9–5½ scoreline reflected FG Polo’s ability to capitalise on scoring opportunities and maintain composure under pressure throughout the match, reinforcing their status as strong title contenders in the Punjab Polo Cup.
The tournament now moves into its decisive stage with the main final set for Sunday afternoon when Diamond Paints/Master Paints meet FG Polo. BN Polo will contest the third-place playoff against Lahore Polo Club as the historic Lahore Polo Club continues to host one of Pakistan’s most distinguished polo competitions.
