A two-day capacity building training on investigation and prosecution of cases registered under the Torture and Custodial Death Act 2022 concluded at the FIA Academy in Islamabad, bringing focused practical instruction to investigators and prosecutors. The program addressed procedural best practices, evidentiary standards and coordination between investigative and legal teams to improve case outcomes under the Torture Act 2022.
The training culminated with a closing address by the Director General Federal Investigation Agency, Mr. Riffat Mukhtar Raja, who thanked participating officers and stressed the importance of ongoing professional development. In his remarks the Director General highlighted integrity, honesty, professional competence and dedication as essential qualities for FIA personnel, and reminded officers of their legal, social and moral responsibilities and accountability before Almighty Allah.
Sessions were delivered by senior officials including Mr. Munir Masood Marth, Additional Director General (North), Mr. Ehsan Manzoor, Director Training, Mr. Masood Naseem, Director Law, and Mr. Asad Ali Bajwa, Deputy Attorney General of Pakistan, each sharing practical insights on investigation techniques and prosecution strategies. According to the FIA spokesperson, the training strengthened institutional capacity to investigate and prosecute cases under the Torture Act 2022 and reinforced the agency’s commitment to uphold the rule of law while protecting citizens’ rights.
