The Higher Education Commission (HEC), in collaboration with the U.S. State Department’s Merit & Needs-Based Scholarship Program, conducted a two-day workshop aimed at enhancing financial management, audit practices, and procurement strategies within Pakistani universities. University representatives from across the country attended sessions focused on improving their understanding of government financial regulations, audit procedures, procurement rules, and the use of data analytics in auditing.
During the opening session, HEC Advisor Scholarships Muhammad Raza Chohan highlighted the critical role of robust financial governance in higher education. He emphasized the need for universities to strengthen their financial foundations by building their brands, commercializing research, forging partnerships with industry, and aligning curricula with market demands to generate additional revenue streams.
The workshop featured interactive sessions led by experts from the Auditor General of Pakistan Revenues (AGPR), Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), and other relevant organizations. Participants engaged with the latest trends in audit practices, learning how technology and data analysis can improve transparency and accountability.
At the conclusion of the event, certificates were distributed to attendees, and participating universities pledged to apply their newly acquired skills to reinforce governance structures and foster transparency in their institutions.
