France Offers Artist Residencies to Pakistani Creatives for 2025
The French Embassy in Pakistan has invited applications from Pakistani artists and creative professionals to apply for its 2025 “Artist Residencies” grant program. Selected artists will have the opportunity to spend one to two months living and working in France, participating in fully funded residential programs aimed at fostering artistic exchange and collaboration between the two nations.
The initiative targets projects within diverse artistic disciplines, including music, visual arts, cinema, literature, fashion, design, and other creative sectors. This residency seeks to facilitate meaningful cultural dialogue by providing Pakistani artists a platform to pursue artistic research and creative projects in well-established residency institutions across France. The residencies are scheduled to take place between October 15 and December 31, 2025.
Each grant recipient will receive a monthly stipend of €1700, a roundtrip economy-class airfare from Pakistan to France, second-class rail transportation within France when necessary, and comprehensive insurance and social security coverage for the duration of the residency. The opportunity is limited exclusively to Pakistani nationals holding a valid Pakistani passport, and unfortunately, dual French-Pakistani nationals and solely French citizens are not eligible.
To be considered, artists must submit a detailed proposal aligned with artistic research or creative development and have secured hosting arrangements from an officially recognized residency institution in France. Priority will be given to artists collaborating with institutions specifically recommended by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
Interested candidates must apply via email no later than August 19. The requirements include a current CV or portfolio, a concise project summary, and written confirmation from the host institution. All documents must be submitted in PDF format with a total file size not exceeding 5 MB. Applications sent via file transfer platforms like WeTransfer will not be considered. Successful applicants will be notified by August 21.
While proficiency in French is not mandatory, applications will be evaluated primarily on artistic merit, the residency project’s relevance to the applicant’s professional trajectory, clear connections established or sought with the French artistic community, and dedication towards diversity and inclusivity. Additionally, all selected grantees will be required to submit a comprehensive final report to the Embassy within three months following their residency.
The French Embassy encourages interested candidates to reach out directly via email with any queries or requests for clarification, particularly regarding eligible host institutions. However, queries made by other means will not be entertained.
This program embodies the French government’s ongoing commitment to promoting global cultural dialogue and supporting international artistic collaboration through diplomatic and creative exchange.
