On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, GC University Lahore organised a campus programme to highlight the importance of Mental Health and to confront the stigma that persists across Pakistan. The event brought together students and faculty from the Department of Psychology for open discussion and collective awareness.
Dr. Syed Imran Murtaza (Medical Superintendent Fountain House) and Mrs. Aeysha Imran Murtaza (Director HR&RMD) joined as guest speakers, sharing insights on accessible care models and the social attitudes that discourage people from seeking help. Their remarks focused on practical steps universities and communities can take to support mental wellbeing and reduce stigma.
Students and faculty participated in a Mental Health Awareness Walk on campus to visibly promote the cause and encourage conversations about Mental Health. The walk served as a public demonstration of solidarity and a reminder that mental wellbeing is a shared responsibility.
The contributions of Fountain House were warmly acknowledged by attendees, who praised the organisation’s role in advancing mental health services and awareness. The programme reaffirmed the university’s commitment to ongoing dialogue and support for students facing mental health challenges.
