Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani met at Aiwan-e-Sadr with Senator Gurdeep Singh, Senator Asad Qasim, Senator Sardar Muhammad Umer Gorgaij, Senator Falak Naz Chitrali and former MNA Ms Maiza Hameed to discuss national priorities and collaborative strategies. He stressed the importance of unity and open dialogue among political leaders to address pressing challenges and support long-term stability.
Mr Gilani underlined that strengthening democratic institutions and promoting inclusive development remain central to Pakistan’s progress, urging policymakers to pursue policies that leave no community behind. He asked legislators to work collectively to build consensus on economic and governance reforms that reinforce social cohesion and public trust.
Expressing deep concern about the ongoing flood situation in several regions, Mr Gilani called for coordinated action by federal and provincial authorities to deliver timely relief and rehabilitation to affected families. He emphasised the need for transparent relief operations and efficient resource allocation to expedite recovery and reduce further hardship for displaced communities.
The Acting President reiterated that sustained dialogue and cooperative efforts between government tiers and political stakeholders are essential to ensure political and economic stability, accelerate recovery in flood-hit areas and advance inclusive development nationwide.
