The Girls Sports Gala opened at Government City Girls Degree College Gulbahar in Peshawar with students and faculty turning out in high spirits for a day of competitive sport and camaraderie. The ceremony was led by Arshad Hussain, assistant professor and chairman of the Sports Department at Government College Peshawar, accompanied by the Secretary General of the Provincial Throwball Association.
Present at the event was Ms. Najma Naz Qazi, Director Sports of City Girls Degree College, along with faculty members Ms. Afshan Gul, Ms. Saadia and Ms. Sadaf Sher who joined in encouraging the participants. The atmosphere reflected a strong sense of sportsmanship and enthusiasm among the students.
The programme featured exciting throwball and table tennis matches with teams representing City Girls College Gulbahar, Girls College Nahqi, Girls College Gulshan-e-Rahman Colony, Frontier Girls Degree College, Bacha Khan College Dabagari, Tajoobi B College Charsadda, Government Girls Degree College Umarzai Charsadda, Government Girls Degree College No 1 Charsadda and Government Girls Degree College Dargai Charsadda competing for top honors.
Arshad Hussain highlighted the value of promoting healthy activities like the Girls Sports Gala in educational institutions, noting that such events help students build physical fitness and mental resilience. He underlined that participation in sports fosters teamwork and confidence and lays a foundation for a brighter future for the youth.
Ms. Najma Naz Qazi and the teaching staff praised the active participation of students and observed that inter-college competitions contribute not only to athletic development but also to character building and discipline. Their remarks reinforced the event’s role in supporting student growth beyond the classroom.
Throughout the gala, participants displayed notable enthusiasm and fair play, with each team determined to perform at their best and represent their institutions proudly in Peshawar’s growing inter-college sports scene.
