Federal Minister Professor Ahsan Iqbal directed relevant departments to prepare advance Ramadan supply plans during the National Committee for Price Monitoring (NPMC) review, stressing timely delivery of essential goods to maintain price stability and steady availability for consumers.
The minister noted recent improvement in inflation, which fell from 7.2 percent in October 2024 to 6.2 percent in October 2025, and said this progress must be supported by proactive market planning ahead of the holy month. Departments were instructed to present detailed supply plans at the next committee meeting so gaps can be addressed promptly.
To protect agricultural output and reduce post-harvest losses, the government has called for the rapid establishment of cold chain systems for key crops and perishables. Officials were told that expanding cold storage and refrigerated logistics is essential to balance supply and demand during Ramadan and beyond, and to support rural producers and urban consumers alike.
Ministry teams were also ordered to produce analytical reports grounded in centralized databases so that policy decisions rest on strong evidence. Provincial and district administrations were urged to intensify market monitoring to detect price movements early and to ensure that interventions reach local markets without delay.
The minister emphasized that “an integrated strategy will ensure price stability,” and highlighted that transparent pre-Ramadan market preparation is the most effective relief for the public. Ensuring a coordinated Ramadan supply approach is being treated as a national priority to protect households during the sacred month.
