Governor Kundi congratulates the National Press Club new body and urges action on press freedom, journalists' welfare and urgent building renovation.

Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi congratulated the newly elected body of the National Press Club Islamabad and expressed hope that the new leadership will play a vital role in promoting press freedom and the welfare of journalists.

The governor described the National Press Club as a strong citadel of free expression and autonomous journalism, highlighting its historic role in strengthening democratic traditions and voicing public concerns.

Abdul Razaq Sial, elected president of the National Press Club, briefed the governor on the body’s manifesto and stressed that the press club building has remained in the same condition for the past 20 years and urgently needs modernization. He appealed to the Pakistan Peoples Party to assist in providing improved facilities for journalists.

Dr Farqan Rao, secretary of the National Press Club, said the newly elected team will marshal all available resources to resolve journalists’ problems, ensure welfare and provide professional safeguards. He vowed to take effective measures to advance freedom of the press and make the National Press Club a more active and robust institution.

Abid Abbasi, secretary finance, thanked the governor for his felicitation and said the journalist community looks forward to meaningful support from the Pakistan Peoples Party to align the press club with modern standards and requirements.

Governor Faisal Karim Kundi expressed confidence that the new leadership will elevate the institution’s standing and take concrete steps to address the challenges facing journalists. Media and journalistic circles welcomed the governor’s message and described the development as a positive move for the National Press Club and the broader press community in Islamabad.
