A high-level health sector coordination meeting was convened at the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination (NHSRC), where key stakeholders gathered to discuss the ongoing flood situation and related health challenges. The meeting, chaired by the Director General of Health, included representatives from the United Nations, development partners, and provincial focal points.
Participants shared updates on relief efforts and outlined the specific challenges faced by different provinces in responding to health needs arising from the floods. In particular, the Ministry of NHSRC drew attention to concerns over cholera outbreaks across the country, referencing technical working group findings, and formally requested support from the World Health Organization to help manage the situation.
The forum also focused on the nutritional status of populations in flood-affected areas. Feedback from the nutrition section was collected, highlighting gaps and the need for ongoing interventions. The ministry called for continued collaboration and assistance from all partners to ensure a coordinated and effective response to the evolving health crisis.
