UK and Pakistan Discussing Health Security and Global Cooperation

Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal met with senior representatives from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and the UK’s Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), discussing global health security, disease surveillance, and enhanced international collaboration.

The delegation visiting the Ministry of Health included Dr Ann Wilson, Deputy Director of the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), and Ms Helen Tomkys, Head of Global Health Security at DHSC. During this high-level meeting, participants stressed the importance of strengthening global partnerships and sharing best practices to confront public health challenges effectively.

Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal underscored the significance of international collaboration in ensuring effective disease monitoring and highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to adopting global standards in disease prevention and control. Discussions further revolved around establishing stronger cooperation mechanisms, sharing expertise, and integrating advanced surveillance methods to swiftly identify and address emerging health threats.

Additionally, both sides agreed upon facilitating technical exchanges and capacity-building programs aimed at improving public health infrastructure and surveillance capabilities within Pakistan. This cooperative effort is expected to strengthen countries’ resilience against health emergencies and contribute positively to global health security initiatives.
