Two high-level parliamentary delegations from Türkiye and Azerbaijan visited Pakistan’s National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) at NDMA headquarters in Islamabad today as part of enhanced regional engagement on disaster management.

The Turkish delegation was led by the Honourable Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, H.E. Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş, while the Azerbaijani delegation was headed by H.E. Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, Chairman NDMA, welcomed the visiting dignitaries and provided a detailed briefing on Pakistan’s proactive disaster management framework. The briefing emphasized NDMA’s central coordination role and the integration of advanced technologies in early warning systems, preparedness planning and emergency response operations.

The NDMA team demonstrated key initiatives including the National Common Operating Picture (NCOP) and the Global Common Operating Picture (GCOP), platforms that combine satellite data and international hazard models for real-time risk profiling and informed decision-making. The delegation was also informed about NDMA’s efforts to promote regional collaboration through knowledge exchange, workshops, Comprehensive International Simulation Exercises (CISE) and capacity-building programmes.

Officials highlighted NDMA’s achievements during Monsoon 2025 operations, citing the Disaster Early Warning (DEW) system, extensive public risk awareness campaigns and the timely evacuation of over three million people at risk, along with coordinated relief and recovery activities in affected areas.

The visiting leaders praised NDMA’s strategic use of technology and its commitment to building resilience. The delegations reaffirmed their shared commitment to expanding regional cooperation in disaster risk reduction, capacity development and mutual support during natural calamities, further cementing trilateral ties between Pakistan, Türkiye and Azerbaijan.
