The brother of actress Humaira Asghar has firmly rejected media speculation regarding family abandonment, stating instead that delays in the recovery of her body were due solely to legal processes. Speaking publicly, Naveed Asghar termed his sister as independent and self-reliant, adding that the family’s supposed estrangement is entirely false and misleading.

Breaking his silence following the tragic discovery of Humaira Asghar’s body in her Karachi apartment months after her passing, Naveed asserted, “My sister was independent and stood on her own feet. May Allah forgive her and make the next stages easy for her. It is entirely incorrect to claim we had cut ties with her. For the past three days, we had been continuously in touch with Chhipa Foundation and the police in order to receive her remains. Our arrival in Karachi was delayed solely because of procedural legal matters.”

Naveed further disclosed tragic personal family circumstances, revealing that before news of Humaira’s death arrived, their family had been shaken due to another recent tragedy. “Our younger paternal aunt had passed away recently in a traffic accident,” he said. “My parents were already grieving and deeply affected when they received news about Humaira. When media representatives reached out to my father, he was understandably in an emotional state, which is why he made certain remarks regarding the burial.”

Clarifying about family ties and dynamics, Naveed explained that while Humaira willingly stepped into the entertainment industry and was known for her independent nature, it was natural for parents, concerned for their children’s welfare, to ask questions. “Humaira chose a career in showbiz herself and was always independent-minded. Nonetheless, as any parents would do, they naturally worried and wanted to ensure she was alright,” Naveed explained.

He further revealed that the family had lost direct contact with Humaira for nearly a year. “The last conversation between her and our mother took place around a year ago, and at the time Humaira chose not to share details regarding her residence. For the past six months, her phone had remained switched off, and despite multiple attempts, we could not trace her whereabouts,” Naveed added.

Highlighting his grievances against certain media narratives, Naveed urged investigative scrutiny on other aspects of this tragedy rather than criticism of the family. “Instead of raising fingers at my family, the media should question the landlord—how was the flat door opened after such a long time? Why was he silent for so many months? Was there surveillance in the building? Was a lock forcibly opened? These pertinent questions must be asked,” he stressed.

Indicating the family’s difficult circumstances, Naveed spoke about his mother’s severe emotional distress following the tragedy. He expressed the family’s desire for transparent and thorough investigations. “Once the medical report arrives, the truth will surely come out,” he asserted.

Naveed further added that the family had not yet finalized burial arrangements, indicating that as soon as the body is handed over to them, all decisions regarding the funeral would be made after consultation with their father.

Meanwhile, Ramadan Chhipa, the head of Chhipa Foundation, also stepped forward to dismiss false media claims. Expressing solidarity, Chhipa said, “The deceased was like a daughter to me, and if there arises a need for the body to be transferred to Lahore, the Chhipa Foundation will gladly arrange and fully bear all the costs involved.”
