Major General (R) Hafeez ur Rehman, HI (M) SI, Chairman PTA, joined PTA officials and representatives from Meta, UNICEF, the NCRC and other child protection stakeholders for the launch of Instagram’s “Teen Accounts”, an initiative designed to enhance online safety for young people in Pakistan.
The event was attended by Muhammad Naveed, Member Finance at PTA, and Dr. Khawar Siddique Khokhar, Member Enforcement and Compliance, who underlined the regulator’s commitment to collaborating with global platforms and local child protection agencies. Speakers highlighted how Instagram Teen Accounts can become a tool within wider efforts to keep minors safer online while aligning with Pakistan’s regulatory priorities.
Representatives from Meta outlined the purpose of the initiative and its intended support for teen users, while UNICEF and the NCRC emphasised the importance of education, reporting mechanisms and stakeholder coordination. The collaborative tone reflected a shared objective to combine technology, policy and community safeguards to protect adolescents across Pakistan.
PTA officials stressed ongoing monitoring and cooperation with platform partners to ensure that Instagram Teen Accounts meet local needs and regulatory expectations.
