IPC training strengthens infection prevention at Lahore hospitals; five-day cascade sessions at PINS and Shahdara boosted patient safety and clinical IPC skills.

The collaborative IPC strengthening initiative of the Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education (SHC&ME) Department, Punjab, and the National Institute of Health (NIH), Islamabad, is making steady progress across Lahore’s major teaching hospitals.

Last week five-day IPC cascade trainings were successfully completed at the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences (PINS), Lahore, and the Government Teaching Hospital Shahdara, Lahore. These IPC training sessions focused on enhancing infection prevention competencies, reinforcing standard and transmission-based precautions, and improving patient safety practices in high-risk clinical areas.

Provincial IPC master trainers led the courses with hands-on instruction and practical guidance tailored to hospital needs. The programme benefited from the leadership of the Provincial IPC Focal Person and the operational oversight of the Provincial IPC Coordinator, whose roles ensured smooth planning and delivery throughout the cascade training process.

Organisers also acknowledged the support of hospital Medical Superintendents and administrations and commended master trainers and participants for their commitment to elevating IPC standards. Continued IPC training across Lahore aims to strengthen frontline capacity and sustain safer care for patients in teaching hospitals citywide.
