The Secretary of Education chaired a meeting at Islamabad College for Boys, G-6/3, to gather feedback and map out measures to raise education quality across public institutions in the federal capital.
Thirty principals from primary and secondary schools and model colleges attended along with Area Education Officers and directors from the Federal Directorate of Education. The Secretary opened the session by highlighting less than satisfactory learning outcomes for class 4 and class 8 in ICT, particularly in maths and science as reported by various studies.
He stressed the urgent need to tackle the foundational learning crisis and called on heads of institutions to lead efforts to uplift standards. Emphasis was placed on implementing robust quality assurance standards, strengthening monitoring and evaluation mechanisms and expanding teachers capacity-building programmes to secure sustainable improvement in learning outcomes.
Participants were asked to suggest practical measures to improve learning outcomes within existing resources. The ensuing discussion produced recommendations that were noted and will be incorporated into the broader strategy to enhance education quality in Islamabad.
The meeting ended with a commitment to follow up on agreed actions and to ensure effective execution of decisions taken during the session, with progress tracking by the Federal Directorate of Education.
