President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited the United Nations University in Tokyo and delivered a lecture titled Restoring Strategic Trust in an Era of Turbulence: How Kazakhstan Envisions a More Just and Stable World. In his address he urged renewed commitment to Strategic Trust as a foundation for global stability and stronger multilateral cooperation.

“It is a great honor for me, as the first Head of State from our region, to speak within the walls of this distinguished institution,” President Tokayev said. “I regard this opportunity as a sign of genuine trust in Kazakhstan’s growing international role and as recognition of our tireless efforts aimed at promoting multilateralism and maintaining global stability. The United Nations holds special personal significance for me, as I was honored to serve as Under-Secretary-General and Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, as well as Secretary-General of the Conference on Disarmament.”

His remarks place Strategic Trust at the centre of Kazakhstan’s diplomatic message, underscoring the country’s push for renewed multilateralism amid global turbulence. The lecture signals Kazakhstan’s growing international profile and offers a perspective that resonates in Islamabad and across the region as states look for predictable cooperation and ways to preserve peace and stability.
