Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has arrived in Turkmenistan to attend the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, aiming to address challenges faced by nations without direct access to the sea. Upon his arrival, President Tokayev was greeted at the airport and held a brief meeting with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council) of Turkmenistan.
During their conversation, President Tokayev highlighted the steadily growing cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. He expressed appreciation for the invitation to visit and noted the significance of the conference, which is being held with the participation of the UN Secretary-General. Tokayev praised Turkmenistan’s policy of positive neutrality over the past three decades, emphasizing that Kazakhstan fully supports this approach and values Turkmenistan’s elevated standing on the international stage.
Both leaders underscored the special bond between their countries. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening friendship and fostering good-neighborly relations, reflecting the importance their peoples place on close bilateral ties. The meeting highlighted the consistent positive momentum in Kazakh-Turkmen relations as both nations participate in the high-level international forum.
