Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, met with Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in Islamabad to discuss key issues related to the province’s development, national cohesion, and public welfare. The meeting addressed a broad spectrum of political, economic, and social challenges facing the region, with both leaders reaffirming a commitment to improve conditions and promote sustainable growth in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
During the talks, Senate Chairman Gilani highlighted the strategic significance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, noting the province’s important geographical position, its historic contributions, and the remarkable sacrifices made by its people for Pakistan’s security and development. He emphasized that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have continuously played a pivotal role in maintaining peace, unity, and stability in the country, with their efforts regarded as an enduring part of the nation’s history.
Governor Kundi provided an extensive update on the province’s ongoing development priorities and the specific challenges faced by the newly merged districts from the former FATA region. He outlined strategic initiatives to strengthen community relations with tribal leaders and the implementation of welfare projects designed to achieve lasting progress for local residents.
Senator Gilani reiterated strong federal support for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stressing that the prosperity and well-being of its people are essential to Pakistan’s long-term future. He assured continued cooperation and assistance at the federal level to facilitate the province’s socio-economic advancement.
The meeting was also attended by newly elected Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood. On this occasion, Governor Kundi and Senator Mahmood extended their condolences to Chairman Gilani on the passing of his cousin, former federal minister Syed Tanveer-ul-Hassan Gilani, and paid tribute to his significant social and political contributions.
