The Pakistan High Commission in London marked the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq in a ceremony attended by British parliamentarians, Pakistan-origin councillors, business leaders, mission officers, media representatives and prominent members of the Pakistani community across the UK.
Haseeb bin Aziz, Pakistan’s Acting High Commissioner to the UK, paid tribute to the country’s armed forces, calling them an “iron shield” in defence of the homeland. He praised the courage, professionalism and resolve of the soldiers, sailors and airmen and said that during Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos their swift and decisive actions demonstrated operational excellence recognised internationally.
Commodore Jawad Khawaja and Colonel Mohsin Waqar, the Defence & Naval Adviser and the Army & Air Adviser respectively, underscored the unity of Pakistan’s defence institutions and reaffirmed their role in protecting the country’s sovereignty against hostile designs.
Ali Nawaz Malik briefed attendees on steps taken by the High Commission to keep British media informed during Marka-e-Haq and to present Pakistan’s principled stance in response to misleading narratives propagated by India through some outlets.
Representatives of the Pakistani community offered warm tributes to the armed forces and political leadership, and the gathering pledged that Marka-e-Haq will continue to unite Pakistanis in the UK and at home towards building a stronger, more resilient nation.
