Islamabad: Maroof International Hospital (MIH), in collaboration with the Royal Thai Embassy Islamabad, organised a medical camp at Hamara Ghar Welfare Trust, Shah Allah Ditta, providing free healthcare services to around 120 girls and children.
The camp was held under MIH’s Community Support Programme and the Embassy’s voluntary community service initiatives, with a focus on the health, wellbeing and future of girls. The initiative offered free medical consultations, medicines and healthcare guidance to children at the welfare trust.
Consultations were provided in several specialties, including ophthalmology and eye care, paediatrics, general medicine, dental care, nutrition and dietetics, mental health, and early intervention therapy. Specialised support was also offered for children facing speech delays and developmental needs.
Thailand’s Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Mr Rongvudhi Virabutr, appreciated MIH for its commitment to serving humanity and praised Hamara Ghar for its dedication to caring for children who have lost their parents. He warmly referred to the children as “little angels”.
“Compassion becomes meaningful when it reaches those who need it most. Today’s initiative is not only about healthcare; it is about sharing care, dignity and hope with these wonderful children. This spirit of compassion is reflected in the Royal Thai Embassy’s commitment to community service and humanitarian support,” the Ambassador said.
He also appreciated the partnership between MIH, the Royal Thai Embassy and Hamara Ghar, stressing the importance of collective efforts for community wellbeing. The Ambassador presented gifts to the children and encouraged Hamara Ghar to continue its work.
Chairman MIH, Ch. Naseer Ahmed, reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to supporting the children of Hamara Ghar beyond healthcare by creating opportunities for their professional development.
“Healthcare is not simply about treating illness; it is about giving people the confidence and opportunity to build a better future. These girls have enormous potential, and we want to stand beside them as they grow,” he said.
He announced that MIH would extend internship opportunities to Hamara Ghar children when they reach the appropriate stage, along with additional avenues of support to help them gain practical exposure, professional skills and confidence.
CEO MIH, Mr Haroon Naseer, appreciated the medical teams and staff for their dedication and encouraged the girls to remain focused on education and their aspirations.
“Your circumstances may shape your journey, but they should never define your future. Believe in yourselves, focus on your education and pursue your dreams with confidence. Every girl deserves the opportunity to grow up healthy, educated and empowered,” he said.
Capt. (R) Tariq Mehmood Satti, CEO of Hamara Ghar Welfare Trust, said the organisation was founded in 2005 in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake. What began as an effort to support children affected by tragedy has developed into a home providing care, education and opportunities for a better future.
According to the organisation, Hamara Ghar currently provides a safe and nurturing home to approximately 500 girls, from the age of three through university, supporting them with shelter, education, healthcare and opportunities to shape their futures.
The medical camp was held to commemorate the birth anniversary of Her Majesty the late Queen Sirikit of Thailand and Thailand’s National Mother’s Day. Her Majesty’s legacy of compassion and service provided the backdrop to an initiative focused on girls’ health, dignity and wellbeing.
The collaboration between MIH, the Royal Thai Embassy and Hamara Ghar highlighted the role of partnerships in bringing healthcare and hope to communities in need, while reinforcing a shared commitment to ensuring that every girl has the opportunity to grow up healthy, confident and empowered.
