A two-day workshop at the National Book Foundationโs Lahore office convened publishers, writers, educators and sector stakeholders for a focused Publishing Ecosystem dialogue organised by NBF in partnership with ITA. Dr. Kamran Jahangir (MD NBF) and Bela Jameel (CEO ITA) warmly welcomed participants and set a collaborative tone for the event.
The programme aimed to build a more resilient and inclusive publishing ecosystem in Pakistan by highlighting the specific pressures facing childrenโs literature, including representation, accessibility and the need for quality local content. Sessions encouraged open exchange between the public and private sectors, educational institutions and creative professionals to align priorities and share practical approaches.
Throughout the workshop, participants explored measures to strengthen capacity, improve distribution channels and support creators so that children across Pakistan can access diverse and culturally relevant books. Emphasis was placed on collaboration as the key to addressing systemic challenges and making the publishing ecosystem more sustainable.
Attendees left the dialogue with renewed commitment to ongoing partnerships and follow-up initiatives aimed at turning workshop discussions into tangible steps for the publishing community. The organisers signalled plans to continue facilitating exchanges that foster long-term growth and inclusion within the Publishing Ecosystem.
