The NCRC team led by Pirbhu Satyani, Member Sindh for Minorities, and Muhammad Khalid, Complaint Officer, conducted intensive court proceedings in Karachi to address a series of serious child rights violations.
The sessions examined individual cases of abduction and kidnapping, the forced conversion of a 13-year-old boy, early and forced child marriage, and allegations of sexual abuse, rape and torture linked to inheritance disputes. The team also reviewed alarming reports that included the alleged rape of 100 children, incidents of torture within an orphanage and multiple complaints of corporal punishment, highlighting the scale and urgency of child rights concerns in the city.
Representatives from the police, relevant government authorities and complainants participated in the hearings, underlining the need for coordinated legal, protection and investigative responses. The proceedings stressed the importance of timely forensic and child protection measures and of ensuring survivors receive appropriate support while cases move through the courts.
The NCRC reaffirmed its commitment to pursue justice, protection and dignity for every child and indicated that follow-up with the government of Pakistan, UNICEF Pakistan and the Ministry of Human Rights will be part of efforts to ensure effective safeguards and accountability across the province and beyond.
