The National Disaster Management Authority convened a coordination conference at its National Emergencies Operation Center in Islamabad to sharpen Winter Contingency planning and response ahead of the season running from October 2025 to January 2026.

NDMA officials reviewed the Disaster Early Warning DEW-4 advisory and stressed the need for strengthened inter-agency coordination among federal, provincial and regional disaster management authorities, line departments and rescue services to ensure timely action and resource availability during severe winter conditions.

Participants discussed measures to manage tourist influx in high-altitude and snow-prone areas, including assessment of accommodation capacity, clear routes for emergency access and protocols for rapid rescue and medical support. Emphasis was placed on proactive staging of equipment and supplies to reduce response times in remote destinations popular with domestic and international visitors.

Representatives from all Provincial Disaster Management Authorities, line departments and rescue services took part in joint deliberations that highlighted synchronized preparedness, continuous communications and contingency resource sharing. The conference aimed to ensure that tourist safety and sustained tourism activities remain central to winter response plans across Pakistan.

NDMA reiterated its commitment to maintain close coordination with all stakeholders at the federal and provincial level, ensuring that Winter Contingency arrangements are actionable and that agencies remain ready to protect lives and support communities throughout the winter months.
