NHMP reviews traffic management, road safety at monthly regional conference

IG NHMP Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry chaired the monthly Regional Conference attended online by senior officers from all regions and zones.

ISLAMABAD: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) held its monthly Regional Conference under the chairmanship of Inspector General Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry on August 18, 2026.

Additional Inspectors General, Deputy Inspectors General and Senior Superintendents of Police from all regions and zones across the country participated in the meeting online.

According to a press release, the overall performance of all zones was reviewed in detail during the conference. Measures aimed at improving traffic management, ensuring safe and comfortable travel, and addressing other important operational matters were also discussed.

IG NHMP Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry directed that all available resources be utilised to provide safe, comfortable and quality travel facilities to citizens travelling on national highways and motorways.

He instructed officers to strengthen effective enforcement of traffic laws on national highways and motorways through effective strategies, professional expertise and optimum use of modern technology.

During the meeting, the IG Motorway Police emphasised that all officers should treat passengers with courtesy and good conduct and extend every possible assistance to them. He said helping and serving the public was a distinctive hallmark of the Motorway Police.

He added that courteous behaviour and public service were the identity of the Motorway Police, and any kind of inappropriate behaviour towards passengers would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

In conclusion, IG Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry reaffirmed that protecting the lives and property of citizens travelling on national highways and motorways, providing a safe travelling environment and serving the public remained among the foremost priorities of the NHMP.

He said all available resources would continue to be utilised to achieve these objectives.
