ISLAMABAD: National Skills University (NSU) Islamabad organised a grand ceremony to mark Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, featuring a flag-hoisting ceremony, national songs, tableaus, speeches and debates.
The ceremony began with the hoisting of the national flag by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Saud Altaf, accompanied by faculty members, university officials and students. Following the flag-hoisting, Director Mahmood ul Hasan led a special prayer for the peace, progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
The main proceedings were held at the university’s Al-Mukhtiar Auditorium, where Prof Dr Saud Altaf addressed the gathering. He felicitated the participants on Independence Day and appreciated the performances presented by the students.
In his address, the vice chancellor highlighted the vital role of skill-based education in the country’s development and prosperity. He also prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs and veterans and reaffirmed the resolve that no sacrifice would be spared for the progress of the homeland.
Prof Dr Saud Altaf paid tribute to the courage, bravery and high morale of the Armed Forces of Pakistan and offered them a salute.
Students presented national songs, tableaus, speeches and debates during the ceremony, showcasing their talents and receiving appreciation from the audience.
Representatives of Bank Islami also attended the event and assured full support for the development and growth of the university. Professor Emeritus and former vice chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Muhammad Khan also addressed the participants.
Hafiz Ghulam Muhammad, representing the National Technology Council, attended the ceremony as a special guest.
At the conclusion of the event, the vice chancellor presented commemorative gifts to the honoured guests, after which a cake was cut to celebrate Pakistan’s anniversary.
