Pakistan Cambodia Trade Gains Momentum

Pakistan Cambodia trade advances as Cambodian minister visits FPCCI to explore IT, textile and pharma ties and sign cooperation pacts.

The Cambodian Minister of Commerce Cham Nimol visited the FPCCI President Office in Islamabad with a delegation during an official visit to Pakistan, meeting senior government and business leaders to explore deeper economic ties.

The minister held talks with Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and FPCCI President Atif Akram Sheikh, with Prime Minister’s Trade Coordinator Rana Ehsan Afzal also present. Vice President FPCCI Tariq Jadun, Chairman Capital Office Kareem Aziz Malik, Chairman Coordination Malik Sohail Hussain and senior business leader Ahmed Chanaye were among the business delegation attending the meeting.

Participants exchanged detailed views on the potential to expand Pakistan Cambodia trade across multiple sectors. FPCCI President Atif Akram Sheikh highlighted recent government measures that have begun to show positive results for the national economy, noting that high-level conferences and foreign visits reflect the government’s economic vision and that the Cambodian visit could open a new chapter in bilateral relations.

Federal Minister Jam Kamal Khan recalled the severe challenges the economy faced in recent years, including inflation above 38 percent and interest rates near 22 percent, and credited focused government efforts under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for stabilizing the economy. He said economic indicators are now moving in a positive direction and reiterated the government’s commitment to foster B2B links between the two countries.

Minister Cham Nimol said a significant portion of Cambodia’s imports from Pakistan comprises pharmaceuticals and expressed a clear interest in expanding trade into textiles, IT and other sectors. She invited Pakistani and international investors to explore tax-free and profitable investment opportunities in Cambodia and announced that cooperation agreements spanning multiple sectors will be signed to formalize new projects.

Prime Minister’s Trade Coordinator Rana Ehsan Afzal welcomed the Cambodian minister and noted that stabilizing policies have strengthened the economy, with foreign exchange reserves recovering and a marked reduction in interest rates. He emphasized government priorities to reduce production costs, facilitate investors and boost exports as foundations for deeper bilateral commerce.

FPCCI and business leaders including Malik Sohail Hussain urged companies from both countries to pursue B2B connections, especially in IT, textiles and pharmaceuticals, to convert dialogue into tangible trade and investment. The meeting closed with a mutual commitment to accelerate Pakistan Cambodia trade through concrete agreements and active business engagement.
