Pakistan ITF Championship Kicks Off in Islamabad

Watch Pakistan ITF Championship action as 86 players from 22 countries compete in Islamabad; qualifying continues and the main draw starts tomorrow.

The McDonald’s Pakistan ITF Championship 2026 (ITF M-15 Leg-2) began at the PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad with 86 men representing 22 countries competing for ranking points and prize money. Players from Pakistan, Russia, Uzbekistan, Great Britain, Algeria, Japan and more are taking part in this international event staged in the capital.

Samir Hamza Reguig of Algeria, ranked ATP 844, is the top seed for the Pakistan ITF Championship and will be among the favourites as the tournament progresses.

PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Secretary General Col. Zia-ud-din Tufail extended their best wishes to all participants and thanked the sponsors whose support made the event possible. The federation emphasised the importance of hosting international competition in Islamabad to provide local players with exposure and to promote tennis across Pakistan.

Qualifying produced several decisive results: in the first qualifying round Sarmad Ali Khan (PAK) defeated Grigory Maksimenko (RUS) 6-1, 6-1; Ahmad Nael Qureshi (PAK) beat Ned Smith (GBR) 7-5, 6-4; Giovani Samaha (LBN) advanced after Adam Bajurko (POL) retired at 6-4, 5-2; Muhammad Abdullah (GBR) recorded a 6-0, 6-0 win over Muhammad Abdullah (PAK); Muhammad Huzaifa Khan (PAK) progressed when Go Nakamichi (JPN) retired at 6-4, 4-3; Muhammad Hamza Aasim (PAK) won 6-0, 6-0 over Adnan Rasheed Khan (PAK); Barkat Khan (PAK) prevailed 6-0, 6-1 against Ali Zafar (PAK); Mohammad Abid Ali Khan Akbar (PAK) beat Arsam Saleem (PAK) 6-0, 6-0. In the second qualifying round Makar Krivoshchekov (RUS) defeated Sarmad Ali Khan (PAK) 6-0, 6-0; Ilyos Abrorov (UZB) beat Shawal Azeem (PAK) 6-0, 6-0; Abdulaziz Usmonjonov (UZB) overcame Ahmad Nael Qureshi (PAK) 6-4, 6-2; Zohaib Afzal Malik (PAK) beat Fedor Dorokhov (RUS) 6-4, 6-3; Josh Roe Flannelly (IRL) defeated Xiuyuan Guo (CHN) 6-3, 6-3; Ivan Iutkin (RUS) won 7-5, 7-6(2) over Giovani Samaha (LBN); Muhammad Talha Khan (PAK) beat Sameer Ahmad (PAK) 6-0, 6-2; Adam Farag-Cao (CAN) defeated Muhammad Abdullah (GBR) 6-0, 6-0; Shokrukh Toshpulatov (UZB) came through 1-6, 6-1, 10-6 against Muhammad Huzaifa Khan (PAK); and Alexey Dubinin (RUS) beat Ahmar Saeed (PAK) 6-0, 6-0.

The third round of qualifying is currently in progress and the main draw of the Pakistan ITF Championship will commence tomorrow at the same venue, offering another day of competitive tennis for spectators in Islamabad.
