Pakistan Kenya bilateral trade has crossed the US$1 billion mark, reaching US$1.023 billion, according to the latest figures shared in Islamabad.
Pakistan’s exports to Kenya also touched an all time high of US$434.7 million in the just concluded FY 2025/26, marking the highest ever recorded exports from Pakistan to Kenya in the history of bilateral trade.
The achievement has been linked to the efforts of the commercial section of the High Commission of Pakistan, with the Commercial Counselor maintaining engagement with Kenyan government institutions, chambers of commerce, trade organizations and private businesses.
Over the past two years, the mission says it has helped facilitate merit based delegations and participation in five major trade exhibitions in Pakistan, including FoodAg, HEMS, PATDC, TEXPO and WHX arranged by TDAP, where Kenyan importers reportedly signed deals worth millions of US dollars on the spot.
Among the key developments highlighted were the lobbying for a reduction in the customs valuation of Pakistani rice by the Kenya Revenue Authority from US$615 to US$450, making Pakistani rice more competitive in Kenya, and efforts to secure the inspection and registration of more than 35 Pakistani pharmaceutical companies by Kenya’s Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
The second Pakistan Kenya Joint Trade Committee was also convened, described as the first JTC to be held physically. An FTA with the EAC is also in process, while the ongoing Basmati rice geographical indication case remains under watch, with hopes for a favorable outcome for Pakistan, InshaAllah.
