Pakistan Switzerland education partnership advances as ministers agree to deepen cooperation in vocational training, research and inclusive learning at UNESCO.

At the 43rd UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, H.E. Ms. Wajiha Qamar, Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training, met with H.E. Mr. Ignazio Cassis, Foreign Minister of Switzerland, to discuss deepening bilateral collaboration in education and skills development. The meeting underscored the importance of international partnerships for Pakistan Switzerland education priorities.

The two ministers explored avenues to strengthen cooperation in vocational training, research and sustainable development, with Ms. Wajiha Qamar highlighting Pakistan’s ongoing education reforms that prioritise inclusive and skill-based learning. Emphasis was placed on aligning vocational programmes with labour market needs to expand opportunities for young Pakistanis.

Minister Cassis reaffirmed Switzerland’s commitment to partner with Pakistan in advancing innovation and improving the quality of education. Both sides noted that collaboration in research and technical training can support Pakistan’s broader goals for sustainable development and economic resilience.

Leaders on both sides signalled a willingness to follow up with concrete initiatives and exchanges that support Pakistan’s reform agenda. Strengthening institutional links and joint projects was presented as a practical way to move Pakistan Switzerland education cooperation from discussion to implementation.
