Pakistan Tourism Festival 2026 in Islamabad ends with sports, culture and fireworks, boosting tourism and family engagement across the capital.

Two days of sports, culture and family activities drew large crowds to the Jinnah Sports Complex as the Pakistan Tourism Festival 2026 wrapped up under a celebratory atmosphere. The event was organized by the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination in partnership with the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation, provincial tourism departments and a broad mix of public and private stakeholders.

The festival’s second day showcased energetic community participation with a fun marathon and a four-kilometre cycling event that attracted participants from across Islamabad and beyond. Winners of both competitions received cash prizes of Rs 10,000, a move aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and greater community engagement through sports.

Throughout the day the Pakistan Tourism Festival offered a diverse programme including tourism stalls, live cooking demonstrations, family and children’s activities, specialist food outlets and cultural exhibitions. Provincial tourism pavilions and live regional performances highlighted Pakistan’s cultural diversity, while a painting competition, display by an army band, wall rock climbing, an adventure base camp, street curling, paragliding, hot air ballooning and a vintage car show added to the festival’s wide appeal.

As evening fell, audiences enjoyed musical performances representing different regions of the country before a grand concert concluded with a spectacular fireworks display that lit up the Islamabad skyline. Large crowds remained until the closing moments, reflecting the festival’s strong public resonance.

Haneef Abbasi, Federal Minister for Railways, attending the closing ceremony, praised the efforts of Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan and the PTDC team and said the event—held on the directions of the Prime Minister—marked the first time such a large-scale tourism and family sports festival had been staged in the capital. Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan described the Pakistan Tourism Festival as a clear demonstration of the country’s potential as a family-friendly and welcoming tourism destination. Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, Secretary IPC, attributed the successful execution to effective inter-ministerial coordination, while Aftab-ur-Rehman Rana, Managing Director PTDC, thanked the public for an overwhelming turnout and noted growing interest in tourism-led recreational initiatives.

The Pakistan Tourism Festival 2026 concluded after two days of events that sent a clear message of unity, cultural harmony and sportsmanship, and reinforced efforts to promote domestic tourism and family-oriented recreation in Islamabad and across Pakistan.
